Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is based upon positive reinforcement, providing structured lessons based on the individual needs of each student, and developing an overall understanding and appreciation of music. I am very passionate about sharing my love for music and I encourage students to embrace learning and have fun along the way. As a teaching, I am patience, encouraging and approachable, as I believe it is important for students to learn in a nurturing environment where they are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them as well as have a chance to ask questions and give their input. I expect students to be prepared and focused on learning during their lessons and urge them to strive for excellence.
I provide a well-rounded music education, studying impressive repertoire from all eras of classical music and emphasizing fundamentals such as the development of technical proficiency, sight reading skills, listening skills and the study of music theory. Once someone is classically trained and has obtained proper technique as a solid foundation, he or she can easily venture into other genres and styles, even other instruments.
